MY SONG HABIT

Hello! and Welcome to my Blog, I’m really happy you would be reading this today or whenever it meets you. January is moving fast, I hope I am not the only one feeling it, how has January been for you so far? Have you started taking action for your goals or you are still planning what to do for this year?

Even if you are still planning, there is nothing wrong, everyone has their timing. Well for me, I have been taking action and still planning. I entered into a new phase of life this year, living alone and being part of the working class.

January has been great generally, I was staying with a friend at first when I started working and soon I moved into my apartment. My landlord and landlady have been nice to me since I came in. The experience is good at my workplace, and I know I still have a lot to learn. I am not saying everything is all good and fine but I choose to thank God for where I am right now.

Recently, I have been seeing videos about this and I just feel led to speak about it. Let’s watch the video first.

Please, I do hope you listened well to the video and watched it till the end.

Whatever I am going to say, listen with an open heart. I usually listen to secular songs because I didn’t see any harm in it or know the meaning some of it may hold, I just listened to ease myself at that moment, or just for listening sake or I found the beat attractive not necessarily the lyrics.

As I begin to grow in my faith, I began to question the type of music I listen to and paid more attention to the lyrics than just the beats. I came to an understanding that whatever I listen not only my minds feeds from it but also my spirit and soul.

The song may just be a normal song to me but would be passing / communicating a message to my spirit that is not good for it. Have you ever experienced and notice that playing a particular song could change your mood and make you feel depressed, unloved, distant and so many negative feelings. *pls be intentional about questioning yourself*

By the time, you change the song into something more reviving like a worship song or just a praise song, it would uplift your spirit. There is a way, your body, mind, spirit, and soul responds to it. I get that most times, because of the beat from the songs in the secular world, we get dawn to it. *pls be truthful to yourself and it best that you know where the problem lies*

Sometimes due to our unique personalities but let me tell you something, in this new generation, you can find songs of different genres especially for youths, the type we like to hear. I could like listening to Dunsin Oyekan, Theophilus Sunday, and Lawrence Oyor but you would prefer your playlist to have Moses Bliss, Destined Brother, or AIGBEH D’GONG. *if you don’t know them you can check out their music*

I urge you that as Christians, we ought to guide our hearts and souls (Proverbs 4:23) what we listen to plays a role in our spirit, soul, and mind, so be mindful of it. If you like reggae or afrobeat, you can search for Gospel Songs that Glorify God in that genre of Music.

Take time and ask yourself, check your playlist, what kind of songs/music am I listening to? Does it Glorify God? or Does it Glorify the Devil or Self?

I truly pray I was able to pass a message here. God bless you in the remaining days of January and Have a lovely weekend. Don’t forget Jesus Loves You.

Till I write again…

Omoye.
