FACING PERSECUTION AS AN AMBASSADOR FOR CHRIST

Hello Blog Bestie, is it just me that feels like June seems to be running fast, like it was just the first last week and it is already on the 9th? Anyways, how are you doing and how is your walk with God?

Talking about walking with God, I would be sharing a few things about persecution. I have been on a 100 days of discipleship challenge with Emmanuel Iren and in one of the days, He spoke about how to handle persecution. I am introducing persecution first because it has some relations with what I would be sharing today.

We experience persecution because we have chosen to stand in/with Christ and to spread the good news which is the gospel that God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus) to die for us and redeem us back to Him.

As we go about our lives as Christians, we are called to represent Christ (2 Cor 5:20) and be ambassadors for Christ on earth. Representing Christ is not merely saying you are Christian but living a Christ-like lifestyle, one which has love in it, and is forgiving and willing to sacrifice. Representing Christ must show in our actions, in the way we live, and speak, and who and what we associate with.

Being a representative of Christ is to be an ambassador for Christ and an Ambassador is God’s special agent who has been called to declare the Word, show people the way of the Lord, and live a life of full testimonies of faith and commitment. Being an ambassador means that one makes an intentional and consistent decision to die to self every day because he is no longer living for personal gain but for the gain of the kingdom (2 Corinthians 5:15). Once we become saved, we are called to now live for God’s glory.

To represent Christ or be an ambassador of Christ is when everybody around you has been bribed but you decided to keep your dignity and integrity, and we often face challenges in doing this due to peer pressure or persecution and so many other factors but representing Christ and becomes easy by

Dwelling in The Word: by dwelling on the word of God, your focus is moved from words or actions that are being done to the promises God has installed for you (Jeremiah 29:11). Dwelling on the world of God keeps you focused on things above and not beneath. It also gives us instructions on how to handle persecution or pressure (Revelation 2:10-11).

Allow the Leadership of the Holy Spirit: This is very important in all case scenarios. As it is mentioned in the Bible, the Holy Spirit is here to teach, guide, direct, and cautious us. At that particular point of persecution, the Holy Spirit is there to guide your lips on words to say, your body on ways to react, and your mind on what to think. He also gives us the boldness and wisdom to speak the Word of God to defend our faith. He directs us on where to be and not to be.

Becoming dead to the Flesh: finally, by dwelling in the word of God AND LETTING THE Holy Spirit take leadership and as you continue your due fellowship with Christ, you are no longer focused on your desires or what might be said of you as you do the will of God. You become sold out for Christ. You no longer live for yourself but rather for the glory of the Lord.

The truth is we would face persecution as we stand in our identity as Children of God and His representative here on earth. First, you have to accept that persecution would come but instead of allowing it to affect you, let it build your relationship and intimacy with God as you focus more on God’s Word rather than the words of men. The Holy Spirit is forever our best friend who has our best interest at heart, so if the Holy Spirit is nudging you to leave a place or association, don’t waste time do it immediately and finally continue to live every day for the glorification of God and not self.

Thank you so much and specifically the last paragraph, currently in very tight situation of leaving an association at the same time it seems difficult as it is tied to a lot of things. I pray the holy spirit helps me as I take the steps.

    1. I align with you in prayer that the Holy Spirit would help you in your next step and align you to His will.
