Hello, welcome to my blog! How have you been? and How is your spiritual life? What’s your present struggle in your spiritual journey? Let’s talk about it and help each other grow.
At the beginning of March, I started a series on Exceeding Growth and this would be the last part of the series, I do hope you gained value from the other posts. Click to read them if you haven’t.
Today is about growth in your career, honestly speaking I just started my career journey but with the little experience, I have gained in these 3 months of working at my workplace. I will be sharing with you how you can grow in your career while you are in school or after graduation.
Be Aware of Your Mistake and Improve on it: I am an Accountant and when I started working my daily responsibility was keeping records of expenses. I made a mistake in assigning the expenses to the right account head. I became aware of my problem and was more conscious whenever I was allowed to record expenses. I make sure to ask questions as frequently as possible, so I don’t continue to make that same error. I’m not free of error but I’m improving each day.
Seek for Feedback: In my office and department, they know how I love to ask questions. I want to know if I’m performing well or if I’m falling behind. If I’ve grown since the time I started working or I’m stagnant. So I would say seek feedback from your colleague & Line manager.
Equip Yourself: As earlier mentioned my role in my office is to be an Account Officer who ensures that her daily records are properly kept. Even while I am working, I have to equip myself with the accounting software we use in the office, understand it better and become more efficient in it. Also, equip myself by observing how my colleagues carry out their work. My advice would be while you are in school equip yourself with the necessary skills you need. Is it to know some software in your line of study or take some courses that would make you stand out in your office? Just simply keep learning before and while you are on the job.
Know How To Communicate: Recently, I had an issue in the office because I couldn’t or would I say I didn’t pass my message well. In growing in your career, you would definitely need the advice of those around you, so know how to communicate with them and build a good relationship.
Networking: This is very vital and it is something, I am also trying to do personally. Apart from being an Accountant, I am also a graphic designer. In that aspect of my career, I’m trying to connect with like minds and learn from them, especially those ahead of me. Seek to network, you can go to conferences, join communities, and use your LinkedIn account very well to your advantage.

I already mentioned 5 ways to grow in your career which are; being aware of your mistakes and improving on them, seeking feedback, equipping yourself, knowing how to communicate and Finally networking.
One last thing I will be adding is, if you truly want to grow in your career set SMART goals for yourself, it could be monthly, weekly, annually or even daily. You would be able to measure your growth and get an accountability partner to keep you in check. Have a positive mindset to work and seek to deliver value excellently.
That’s all for today. The post was supposed to go out yesterday but I had a bad network all through the day and I wasn’t sure what to write about. Anyway, I’m finally able to make my post today and since it falls on the first of April, 2023. Happy New Month Blog Besties, I wish you the very best for you in this new quarter and month,
I pray that for every goal you set for yourself in other to grow, God Almighty would help you attain it all. We become bigger and better.
