5 BOOKS I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Hello, dear blog bestie, yesterday I was thinking about what to write in this week’s blog post and I decided or made up my mind to share some books that I have read and still reading that have shaped my mind. I also think I should be posting or giving updates on some good and interesting programs I come across.

But before we kick off, I would like to know how you are doing. How’s the week going? And what plans do you have this weekend? As for me, my week was great, I got a job to make some Adire and it was really lovely, my work has been great and my weekend would be spent in classes. Don’t worry I will be sharing the full gist on this and for today Friday, I will be shooting or recording and editing my YouTube video for tomorrow, so I am here again saying, if you haven’t subscribed yet to my YouTube channel, please do so click here to subscribe.

Now unto the discussion of the day. Naturally, I love reading books but more fictional novels, and last year, I became very intentional about not just reading fictional books but the ones that can shape my mind for growth.

The first book, I believe I read last year was Woman of Valor by Marilynn Chadwick. I started reading this book because I wanted to understand the theme of my sisters’ fellowship in school which was “The Chayil Woman” and also create content from the book on our social handle “For context Chayil Woman means Woman of Valor, Warfare and Virtue”. This book gives a more in-depth understanding of the role of a Proverbs 31 Woman. So the writer broke down each verse into chapters of the book and gave stories of her own experience to explain the character of a Proverb 31 woman. In one of the chapter, there’s a prayer plan, so I would recommend this book to all ladies in the house who wants to be Proverbs 31 Woman. You can get the book on Amazon or just search Google to download it.

The second book, I would recommend or have read and has shaped my mind is 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. This book was a mind shift for me and what prompted me to buy and read this book was a mentorship program I wanted to join and one of the requirements was to read and give a summary of the book. One of the things I forever remember about this book is to seek first to understand and then to be understood. If you haven’t read it, download it here.

The third book is one written by a friend of mine from school called Isioma Ojeme, she is a writer, YouTuber, and the Lord’s Anointed, who has been birthed for a time like this. Enough of the hyping 😅😅. So she published her book last year titled The Confident Speaker. The book is for those who find it hard to express themselves and want to be better and confident in their speech and in sharing their journey. The book reveals the power and art of persuasive speaking (public speaking). You definitely should get the book. Click here to buy.

The fourth book is Dead for Nothing? By Phil Pringle. So this book was gifted to me by my Chaplain after my project defense last year and I read it this year. The book provides the essence of the cross or the death of Christ. It gives the significance of Christ’s death and resurrection (Salvation). So if you feel uncertain or you do not fully grasp all that you gain through salvation, then be sure to get the book and read it. Search on Google to get the book.

The fifth book is Atomic Habit by James Clear. This book is amazing, knowing how to overcome bad habits and replace them with good habits. It is not just a book that just states things but gives practical ways to achieve them. The journey won’t be easy but it can be achieved. You can get the book on Jumia or Amazon.

Because my birth month is July which is 7th, I will be sharing two more books with you. The sixth book is also written by another good and close friend of mine, who was also my co-writer in May 🥁🥁🥁 Emediong Udom. She recently published the book and for now, it is still free. So what is this book about and what’s the name? The book is titled RESUME DIY: EMPOWERING YOURSELF TO CREATE YOUR OWN PROFESSIONAL RESUME. I think the name of the book speaks for itself. Get the book on Selar and start creating a professional resume that would help you stand out. Ps: I did the book cover design😊

And finally, the seventh book is Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. I am currently reading this book and I had access to it from a fellow Corp member at my local government. This book is filled with so much wisdom on finance and money. Let me share with you, two quotes I jotted down while reading the book; “Realize that not all success is due to hard work, and not all poverty is due to laziness. Keep this in mind when judging people, including yourself” and “the hardest financial skill is getting the goalpost to stop moving”, don’t worry you would understand better once you read the book. Search on Google to get the book.

So these are 7 books I highly recommend for you to get and read. I might consider doing Part 2 next week, so just watch out regardless there’s something I do whenever I am reading a book or I am done with the book. I write out a summarized version of the book from what I got and understood, things that spoke well to me, and also include the page or chapter I got it from. It gives you an overview of the book without reading the book again.

This is all for today, I would like to know if there’s any book you have read and would like to recommend for us to read and what stood out for you. Let us know in the comment section
